Founder & Director · 40+ Years in Education
For more than four decades, Mrs. Delorie Finch has been a cornerstone of early childhood education in inner North Portland. She has devoted her career to teaching hundreds of children and families in this community — the very neighborhood where The Finch Academy now stands.
Driven by a deep belief that every child deserves access to excellent, nurturing education regardless of their family's circumstances, Mrs. Finch established The Finch Academy to create a school that reflects her life's work: structured, loving, high-quality early learning that prepares children not just for kindergarten, but for life.

Mrs. Delorie Finch begins her career as an early childhood educator in the inner North Portland community, building lasting relationships with hundreds of families.
Through decades of teaching, Mrs. Finch deepens her commitment to providing quality early education to under-resourced families in the neighborhood she calls home.
Mrs. Finch establishes The Finch Academy at 4222 NE 12th Ave — still in the North Portland neighborhood she has served for her entire career — creating a school built on equity, excellence, and love.
TFA continues to grow, sending confident, kindergarten-ready graduates into schools across Portland — and building the next generation of learners, leaders, and community members.
